Environment

Lake Mead’s water level shrinks (Read More)

A lake that supplies water to 25 million people across three states is slowly drying up due to a prolonged drought in western United States.  25 million residents of California, Nevada and Arizona are dependent on water from Lake Mead. The city of Las Vegas, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, gets most of its drinking water from Lake Mead. In a way, the water of Lake Mead is a lifeline to many people in the three states. Now, due to the ongoing drought, the water level in the lake has dropped below 1080 feet. The La Niña weather effect is going to further exacerbate the matter by making the drought worse. If the water level in Lake Mead drops below 900 feet, then no water will flow out of the lake, thereby affecting lives of millions of people.

Life

Empathy; nice to know that it is still alive. (Read More)

How nice would it be to live in a world where empathy guided our actions. Many humans lack the capacity to put themselves in someone else’s shoes. Many of us operate under the paradigm—my way or the highway. It is my opinion that many of the problems that humanity face today can be overcome with the simple application of empathy. Many of us rarely try to understand the other person’s perspective, limitation or angst. Once we are in position of power, we abuse it; we want everything for ourselves and greed mostly drives our lives. We are born innocent but die corrupt.

Say what now?

Target is suing a man who saved a girl from being stabbed to death at one of their stores. (Read More)

According to Target, by saving a girl from being stabbed, the man acted irresponsibly and put the lives of other customers in the store at risk. Only lawyers can come up with such reasoning. And you know what, Target will probably win the lawsuit, because of the money power and influence they have. Furthermore, the gentleman does not have an attorney and will be representing himself. Hence, the good Samaritan has his work cut out for him.

A mom driving under the influence of alcohol crashes into a hydrant, flees from the scene leaving her 2 year boy behind. (Read More)

Why do people have kids, when they are not mature enough or responsible enough to take care of them? Okay, maybe it was an unplanned child. However, once you have given birth, shouldn’t you change your ways for the kid. You have brought a life to this world; hence, man up or woman up to the demands of being a parent. If you cannot, then, shouldn’t you do the right thing and give up the child for adoption? What kind of soulless monster can you be to drive around drunk with your two-year old boy in the car. Next, you crash into a fire hydrant and flee from the scene leaving your kid behind. Mother horribilis, I guess.
