The 2013 explosion at a Texas fertilizer plant was deliberate. In other words, it was a sabotage. Who in their right mind would do something like this? (Read More)
This is truly a omygdala moment. The ammonium nitrate explosion in West Fertilizer Company on April 17, 2013, killed 15 people and injured more than 160. A person named Derrick Hurtt had even caught the explosion in camera. Watch it to understand how powerful the explosion was, how lucky Derrick and his kids were to survive the blast and what havoc it must have wreaked. Now, it is found out that the fire was deliberately set. Sociopaths running the show.
Say what now?
Scientific studies with multiple caveats, maybe? Or, maybe, scientific studies that stretches the facts a bit.
If you watch television, you will see ads making outlandish claims about the effectiveness of a product—grow twice as fast; provides five times more energy; kills all germs in a second, charcoal extracts for extra cleaning; coffee extracts for fairer-er-er skin, etc. Often times, the ads will state that “a study shows… hence… “. In newspapers, too, you may read articles in the Health & Wellness section that states something along the lines—Don’t make important decisions on an empty stomach, Fasting may help fight dementia or Video game addiction can lead to sleep deprivations (Well, duh!), etc.
However, both newspaper articles and television ads will never provide any evidence to support those claims or point to the exact study, which reached that conclusion. They will only state, “Researches have found…” or “Scientists have found…” or “Scientists have observed…” If you are like me, then you probably scratch your head and wonder, “How do I confirm the veracity of the claim being made?” Well, worry not. John Oliver in his show has covered that exact subject in greater detail. Please watch!

Valravn—the world’s tallest, fastest, and longest rollercoaster (Read More)
Sounds like Ravan, doesn’t it? If you are riding this roller coaster, then, get ready to hang upside-down 165 feet in the air. This means you better not have fear of heights. Furthermore, if you don’t want to throw up, don’t ride on an empty stomach, but eat something one to two hours before the ride. Finally, take an over-the-counter pill that prevents motion sickness. If everything fails, then, close your eyes and pray to God.
Relationship
Look at the friends you have in your life. Half of them may not, actually, consider you their friend. (Read More)
I always knew that I have just a few friends, the rest of them are just acquaintances or simply fair-weather friends or entourage. The number of fake friends we have is directly proportional to our wealth, fame and fortune. We cannot choose our enemies, but we should choose our friends wisely. This article reminded me of another study that found almost all Facebook friends as mostly fake. Well, so much for your 22,987 friends in your Facebook friend list!

360 degree video of a tornado
Please note that the video has a control on the top left part of the screen. By default, the view is towards the rear of the SUV. Use the 360 degree control or your mouse to turn the view towards the front of the SUV. You will then notice that the storm chaser is driving towards the tornado, not away from it. In addition, tilt your view slightly towards the sky to see the funnel cloud. Absolutely amazing!
Extreme close-up video of a tornado
A sister video of a tornado. Can you imagine the ferocity of the monster pictured. Lucky we don’t experience tornadoes in India. One of the most terrifying sounds to hear is a tornado siren. You may involuntarily wet your pants.
